Cloisonné

Cloisonné is an ancient enameling technique which uses fine wire to create cels (cloisons in French) which are filled with vitreous enamel glass powder and fire in a high temperture kiln.  Each piece is fired multiple times (average about 30 times)  to create a multitude of colors, subtle shading, and to fill the cels to the top.
